This site is run by Brian Link, one person. Short version: I collect your email so I can send you what you asked for, I don’t sell or rent it, and you can leave whenever you like.
What I collect
- Email signup. Your email address, which page or campaign you signed up from, and whether you’ve confirmed it.
- Signed-copy orders. Name, email, phone number, shipping address, and any dedication you request, so I can sign and ship your book. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch this site.
- Anonymous visit data. For each page view: the page, where you came from, and your browser’s user-agent string. A random ID in a first-party cookie ties one browser’s visits together, so I can see which pages lead to signups. I don’t store your IP address in this data, and there are no advertising or third-party analytics trackers on the site.
What I use it for
- Delivering the free summary and the confirmation email that goes with it.
- Occasionally emailing new blog posts and book news — typically once or twice a month. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link.
- Fulfilling and confirming orders. Order receipts are transactional and separate from the blog emails, so unsubscribing doesn’t stop them.
- Understanding, in aggregate, what’s working on the site.
Who else handles it
- Resend sends the email.
- Stripe processes payments and collects your shipping details at checkout.
- My web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a few weeks.
- Google Fonts serves this site’s typefaces, so your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads.
I don’t sell your information or share it for advertising. Links to Amazon and other sites lead to places with their own policies.
Unsubscribing, and deleting your data
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any blog email. To have your data deleted entirely, or to ask what I have, email adaptive@practicalagilist.com and I’ll take care of it. I keep order records as long as needed for bookkeeping and shipping questions.
